Q. What are "Lambo Doors"?

A. "Lambo Doors" is the slang used to describe scissor doors, vertical doors and diablo doors conversion kits by many people. The "Lambo Doors" slang of course comes from the way a Lamborghini doors open up vertically. The factory hinges are replaced by the lambo doors kit to let the doors open up. Some people call lambo doors Lamborghini doors, butterfly doors, scissor doors, wing doors though there is a slight difference in how the doors open. Q. What does a lambo door / vertical door kit include?

A. A lambo door conversion kit includes: 2 vertical door hinges, 2 gas shocks, all installation hardware, hinges and gas shocks installation instructions, extended wiring harness if applicable.

 

Q. Does the Vertical Doors kit replace my doors?

A. No it does not replace your doors. It only replaces your door hinges. You keep your original doors.

 

Q. How does the Vertical Doors kit function?

A. When inside you will grab the door handle of the car. Pushing the door away from you the door will open 12 - 18 inches like they do normally. From there the door will stop and not open horizontally any further. Once done you will now grab the bottom of the door and lift vertically. The door will then reach a certain point which it will not lift anymore. At this point you will be able to get in and out of the vehicle. In normal case the bottom back portion of the door will be higher than the roof of the vehicle.

From there the door will stop and not open horizontally any further. Once done you will now grab the edge of the door and lift vertically. The door will then reach a pre-determined point at which it will not lift anymore. At this point you will be able to get in and out of the vehicle. In normal case the bottom back portion of the door will be higher than the roof of the vehicle.

 

Q. What is the normal installation process?

A. During a normal installation you will remove the front bumper and front fenders. Once they are removed you will remove the old hinges that hold the door to the car. With those hinges being removed you will install the Vertical Door hinges and then reinstall the fenders and the doors. It is as simple as that.

 

Q. What is the Vertical Doors Lambo Door System?

A. The Vertical Doors Lambo door system is a pre-drilled custom fitted hinge system that converts your doors to open up "Lambo" style. Each of these kits are direct "Bolt-On" replacements for your current stock hinges that are designed specifically for each car or truck.

 

Q. What are the Vertical Doors Lambo Hinges made out of?

A. All lambo door kits are made out of hardened steel. All of the pivot points are hardened and tempered. The system utilizes Spherical Ball Bearings (allows for better shock motion), grease fittings, and 2 adjustment screws for proper alignment and better clearance. They are manufactured in the USA.

 

Q. Are the vertical door hinges made to fit my vehicle?

A. The Vertical Doors Lambo door hinges are direct "Bolt On" replacements for your current stock hinges. That means you can remove your stock hinges and just install our replacement lambo hinges in their place. This makes for the easiest installation in the industry. Currently we manufacture over 25 different direct bolt on kits designed specifically for each car or truck.

 

Q. Can I install vertical door hinges myself or do I have to take it to a shop to have it done? How long does it take to install?

A. We recommend that you have all lambo hinges professionally installed at a local body or customizing shop in your area, however if you are a mechanical person you may be able to install the lambo door hinges yourself. It takes approximately two to three hours per door for installation.

 

Q. Will I need to make any modifications at all?

A. Universal lambo door kit requires modifications while custom lambo door kit installation does not require modifications. The only modification you will need to make (if you buy a custom lambo door kit) is the rolling of the inner fenders for clearance. Most cars need to have this done. What that means is that the inner fender lip must be cut and folded in order to provide better clearance for the hinge. This is on the inner side of your fender, so no painting or body work will be necessary.

 

Q. How do the doors open once I install the Lambo Hinges?

A. First they open out a third of the way that they would open up normally, then they would open upwards so you can get in and out.

 

Q. How high do the doors go up?

A. Depending on how you adjust the hinges, most doors will open similar to example photos.

 

Q. What holds the doors up when I open them?

A. Supplied with your Vertical Doors kit is a pair of high pressure gas assisted heavy duty struts that holds your doors open, and make opening and closing your doors easier. These will not automatically open and close the doors for you, just assist in the motion. They work similar to the way the shocks on your hood work. They assist in the opening and closing of the door as well as hold it open for you.

 

Q. Once I install the new hinges, will I still have the factory door seal?

A. Yes, the doors close and seal up just like they would with factory hinges.

 

Q. What about the door wiring extensions? Do you provide those as well?

Each bolt-on kit comes with wire extensions and connectors to extend the wiring harness. All wires must be extended to have clearance with the hinge.

 

Q. Are Lambo Hinges street legal?

A. That varies from state to state. Check your local laws to be sure. As with most customized products, these are designed for show / recreational use only.

 

Q. Is there a motorized or an automatic version of the Vertical Doors kit available?

A. At this time there is only a manual version of the bolt on kit available. In the future there may be a motorized version released. Once that is released, the manual kits that are now being produced should be upgradable to the motorized version.

 

Q. Do you offer technical support?

A. The manufacturer, Vertical Doors Inc. provides installation instructions with each kit. They have technical support on their website and a tech hotline as well.

 

Q. What is the warranty on the Vertical Doors Lambo Kit?

A. The shocks are covered under manufacturers warranty for a period of 6 months. If for any reason the shocks should become defective during this time, the defective parts can be returned for replacements, however they can not be altered or customized in any way. Any modifications to your kit will void the warranty. Please note, the Universal Style Vertical Doors kit requires modification.

 

Q. Will the door kit retain the factory door seal?

A. Yes. The original doors are retained. The door kit uses factory measurements for setting the pivot point on Lambo door hinge. This means that Lambo door hinge pivots as a stock hinge with multiple adjustment options to achieve a factory tight seal.

 

Q. What holds the door up?

A. The door stays open by the force of a gas shock. The custom gas shocks are made to fit our exact specifications for the Lambo doors kits. The shocks are tested for the exact force rating needed to make the doors rise effortlessly.

 

Q. Do Lambo doors fit every vehicle?

A. There are specific custom direct bolt on Lambo doors kits for specific vehicles. They are custom door kits and made to easily bolt on to your car / truck. There are also universal Lambo doors that are made to fit any car / truck. If you choose a universal lambo door kit some modifications are reqired during the hinges installation. Professional installation is recommended.

 

Q. Can I install the Lambo Doors Kit by myself or will I need professional support?

A. We recommend getting the Lambo Doors Kit installed at a body shop. However, people with strong technical and mechanical skills will be able to install the kit by themselves.

 

Q. How many persons are necessary to install the Lambo Doors Kit?

A. The Lambo Doors Kit should be installed by two persons to guarantee a safe installation. Especially for adjusting the doors and installing the gas shocks, two persons are necessary.

Q. I bought vertical door shocks from another manufacturer. Will Lambo door shocks by Vertical Doors Inc fit my vehicle?

A. If you bought vertical door shocks from someone else you can order the gas shocks by Vertical Doors Inc. In this case you will need to sypply your old gas shocks picture and all dimentions of the shocks to make sure the gas shocks by Vertical Doors Inc fit your vehicle.
